Why Focus Needs a Doorway

Attention, Environment & Cues

Focus does not always arrive because you demand it with pressure.

The Science

  • Your attention system has to decide what gets the spotlight and what fades.
  • Every object, sound, and person in the room becomes input for that system.
  • Reducing competing inputs matters more than willpower alone.

The Protocol

  • Build a doorway before you begin: clear one surface, face away from motion.
  • Choose one task that can win the next block, not the whole day.
  • If attention slips, return to a physical cue: eyes on the line, hands on the tool.
