Episode 142 · How the Brain Works
Why Too Many Choices Freeze You
Too many choices can look like freedom until your brain freezes at the menu.
The Science
- Every option asks your valuation system to compare cost, reward, risk, and what others might think.
- That comparison is useful, but it burns attention when everything feels equal.
- Decision fatigue builds as the day fills with more of these silent comparisons.
The Protocol
- Pick three real options, not twenty imaginary ones.
- Decide what counts most today: time, money, energy, or recovery.
- Let that rule delete the extras before pressure starts negotiating.
