Why New Words Need Your Mouth

Speech as a Motor Skill

New words do not only live in your ears; they need your mouth too, as movement.

The Science

  • Speech is a movement skill built from breath, lips, tongue, timing, and sound.
  • Hearing a language gives the brain patterns, but speaking turns those patterns into motor commands.
  • Real conversation adds rhythm, emotion, correction, and context that silent app exposure cannot.

The Protocol

  • Say new words slowly, then normally, then inside a sentence you would actually use.
  • Use conversation when you can, not only silent app practice.
  • Treat your accent as history and practice data, not failure.
